First Shift Saw Operator

Job Summary The Saw Operator will read blueprints, make adjustments, set stops or guides, and look for defects in parts while operating a metal saw, poly saw, or shear. Duties and Responsibilities Start, stop, and set up machines in a safe manner. Operate the machine, keeping an eye out for any defects or issues. Use measurement tools to ensure accuracy. Complete quality checks to verify the condition of material. Verify type of material before cutting. Change blades, clean sensors, replenish coolant, and calibrate machines. Operate forklift and crane. Help pack and transport finished pieces as needed. Accurately complete paperwork. Maintain 6S (sort, set, shine, standardize, sustain, safety) standards in all work stations. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor. Skills Knowledge of blueprint reading. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Basic math skills (ex. addition, subtraction, multiplication, converting fractions to decimals, converting standard measurements to metric system, etc.). Basic computer skills. Mechanical inclination. Abilities Read a tape measure and other measurement tools. Function well in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment. Work well with others on a team. Follow instructions and processes. Solve problems quickly and efficiently. Flexibility. Willingness to be trained by supervisor. Ability to multitask. Willingness to have performance measured daily. Preferred Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Forklift certification. Experience operating a saw (1‑3 years). Physical Requirements Uncontrolled environmental conditions: noise, dust, dirt, and mobile equipment. Routine, repetitive lifting up to 35 lbs., occasional heavy lifting, and pushing/pulling 10 lbs. regularly, 1 to 10 hours per day. Any combination of standing, bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, feeling, and walking 8 to 10 hours per day. Ability to work up to 8‑10 hour shifts and overtime as required by the work. Use of all limbs, dexterous and steady use of hands and arms for long periods of time. Simultaneous mental and muscular coordination, visual and audio awareness of surrounding area. Additional Notes Position may require working with fiberglass, which can be itchy to some.
