Physical Therapist I - Outpatient Orthopedics

SUMMARY:We are currently seeking a Physical Therapist I to join our outpatient ortho team at our Community Clinic locations (primarily Richfield Clinic, with potential to train and cross cover at Whittier or Brooklyn Park locations). This full-time role will work 5 days per week (Monday to Friday, either 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM).Purpose of this position: In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and education.RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs and documents comprehensive physical therapy evaluations.Develops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safetyObserves, evaluates, and documents patient's progressParticipates in hospital rounds and patient care conferencesEducates patients and care givers on therapeutic techniques, cares and treatmentsCompletes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standardsDirects and supervises activities performed by the Rehab aides consistent with their training and skill(patient transfers, patient transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selectedtreatment procedures, clerical duties and departmental maintenance)* Directs and supervises selected physical therapy interventions performed by physical therapistassistantsProperly applies and operates rehabilitative equipmentAssists with developing and conducting physical therapy in-services for other staffOrients and mentors newly assigned staffQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications:* Graduation from an accredited school of physical therapy* Up to 2 fulltime years of experiencePreferred Qualifications:* Previous clinical experience (rehabilitation/acute/trauma)Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:* Knowledge of policies/procedures and practice standards; physical therapy theory, techniques, and treatment, physical therapy and orthopedicequipment; counseling and educational techniques; bandaging and wrapping techniquesAbility to perform professional physical therapy techniques and treatment; calibrate and operate physical therapy and orthopedic equipmentAbility to provide work direction for ancillary personnelAbility to counsel and instruct patients and families; ability to recognize and document patient progressAbility to work cooperatively with other members of the medical teamAbility to interact with individuals of widely diverse lifestyles including ability to deal objectively with individuals whose attitudes and behaviors differ from his/her own;Ability to read and interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physicians' notesAbility to interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity (educate)License/Certifications:* Possession of valid Physical Therapy license, or temporary license, issued by the Minnesota State Board of Physical Therapy
