Material Planner (PO, Forecasting, Negotiation)
Title: Materials PlannerDuration: 12+ Months. Long-termLocation: Peachtree City, GA 30269 (Hybrid: 2x/Week) Education:Prefer a minimum AS/AA; however, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Responsibilities:Responsible for the analysis, planning, and purchasing of component parts required for service, repair, and manufacturing. Performs price analysis, cost control, supplier issue resolution, negotiation, purchase order placement, long-term contracting, supplier delivery management, and forecasting/analysis. May lead cross-functional teams to support the Company’s Repair/Remanufacturing Materials strategies. Accountabilities:· Plans and procures materials based on usage and forecasts to meet Service schedules while maintaining inventory investment at budgeted levels.· Participates in the development of short-term forecasts considering economic trends and conditions affecting procurement.· Develops purchasing strategies, plans, and objectives based on forecasted data.· Collaborates closely with suppliers and Service Division members to improve parts supply and overall Service performance.· Drafts and reviews purchase orders to ensure alignment with organizational requirements, vendor selection, pricing, proper authorization, and compliance with established laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards.· Negotiates cancellations, reschedules, or modifications to purchase orders in response to changing requirements.· Reviews specifications, performance terms, and acceptance criteria. Adheres to guidelines to procure customer requirements for repair parts for Reman units and Float Stock.· Interfaces with internal departments and reports service-related issues, including shipments, returns, and field failures.· Manages and provides information required for shipment and clearance of materials.· Monitors and verifies part number revisions, delivery dates, quantities, and pricing to ensure accuracy.· Attends weekly customer meetings to report purchase order status and support action items.· Provides support and backup for other material team member activities.· Advises internal teams and service shops on changes to material delivery status related to engineering or demand requirements.· Analyzes supplier performance using appropriate rating systems and resolves purchase order/contract discrepancies and quality issues.· Prepares for and conducts supplier negotiations to secure favorable pricing, delivery, and contractual terms.· Expedites deliveries and performs follow-up activities as required.· Contributes to the preparation of the Service department budget.· Resolves supplier payment issues and ensures materials are distributed to user departments.· Manages routing and tracing of inbound shipments; oversees material storage and resolves delivery/receiving issues.· Analyzes, plans, and manages obsolete materials and scrap; identifies root causes of inventory discrepancies and drives corrective actions.· Evaluates current processes for inefficiencies, drives continuous improvement, and utilizes computerized systems to implement standardization, cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment initiatives.· Recommends and implements changes to Service and materials management policies as needed. Ensures proper maintenance of records, including contracts, bids, agreements, leases, specifications, pricing, lead times, and receiving documentation.· Interprets and complies with Company policies, procedures, and regulations. Prepares reports, charts, graphs, and statistical data to support KPIs.· Performs other related duties as assigned.
