Maintenance Apprentice
Overview SUMMARY Apprentices are normally enrolled in an aviation program at a technical school and should be working towards their Airframe or Powerplant license. They are assigned limited maintenance function duties and shall report to the Supervisor Maintenance or a designated A&P certificated mechanic and are responsible for performing assigned duties in compliance with our Repair Station Manual. All tasks assigned are to be performed under the supervision of a licensed mechanic in the job training environment. Responsibilities Identify, remove and install inspection access panels. Identify, remove and install aircraft components. Read, understand and implement directions of appropriate maintenance manuals to identify and locate associated components on the aircraft. Accomplish aircraft lubrications. Maintain work area in an orderly and clean manner. Record time worked as directed by supervisor. Comply with all safety procedures at all times, without exception. Comply with all AAR policies and procedures as applicable; keep informed of such policies and procedures and ask supervisor for explanations of anything not fully understood. Take prudent actions appropriate to the preservation of Company or customer assets, whether in monetary or other form. Attend work-related training as scheduled. Perform tasks as may be reasonably assigned by the supervisor. As necessary, ask questions to increase knowledge or skill. Qualifications Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in standard English. General mechanical aptitude. Must have ability to learn; must possess and be able to use minimum tools (basic hand tools, precision measurement equipment, etc.). Able to comprehend and follow instructions. Able to interface in a professional and pleasant manner with other AAR corp. employees at all levels and with customers. Education or Experience High school education or G.E.D. preferred. Minimum of one year of technical aircraft maintenance training from an approved aviation school or training facility. May or may not have A&P license. Physical Demands and Work Environment Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Exposed to high levels of noise, dust, vibration and chemical fumes. Able to lift fifty pounds without mechanical assistance. Able to bend, twist, squat and lift. Able to access and work in all areas of the aircraft to be worked on, including confined areas. Able to climb on ladders and platforms and work at heights up to fifty feet from the ground.
