Position Summary We are seeking a proactive and experienced Federal Income Tax Manager to join our dynamic finance team. This individual will be responsible for managing and directing all activities related to our consolidated federal income tax compliance, GAAP, and statutory tax accounting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional with exceptional attention to detail, strong time management skills, and a proven capacity for effective communication. They must have a strong background in public accounting and be adept at navigating the complex tax landscape of a global investment bank. Key Responsibilities Manage and review the U.S. consolidated federal income tax return. Prepare and review quarterly estimated tax payments. Oversee the consolidated annual and quarterly GAAP tax accrual processes under ASC 740 including preparing current and deferred tax provisions. Manage third party service providers including setting and maintaining timelines and facilitating information flow between HL and service provider. Assist with tax accounting issues and provide an income tax perspective on accounting matters. Review and document the income tax consequences of corporate mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions. Research and document domestic technical tax issues on various topics, preparing clear and concise memoranda. Collaborate with the broader corporate accounting and finance teams and other departments on transaction-related matters. Coordinating responses to ad hoc queries from HL’s lines of business. Ensure compliance with controls to manage risk and remain in compliance with tax laws, company policies, and procedures, including SOX. Prepare internal memorandum to document tax processes and positions. Stay current with new tax pronouncements and adjust procedures accordingly. Identify ways to integrate AI into day-to-day operations in order to operate more efficiently. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required. A minimum of 7+ years of relevant and progressive tax experience, with a significant portion in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or the tax department of a large public company. Strong experience in ASC 740 and GAAP tax accounting. In-depth knowledge of U.S. corporate income tax laws. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts to a non-tax audience. Ability to independently plan, prioritize and manage own workload, and work accurately under pressure in order to meet deadlines. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Experience with tax research software (e.g., Bloomberg, CCH). Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with ONESOURCE or other tax software is a plus.
