1st shift Paint Shop Tech

Hours: Monday- Thursday 6:00am- 4:30pm, plus overtime as needed. Position Summary:Perform routine and preventative maintenance painting duties, and a full range of specialized painting projects including, but not limited to, painting large structures in corrosive environments; perform inspections, cleaning, storage and disposal of paint products; and operate various tools and equipmentEssential Functions:Loads and unloads parts, secures parts, and moves parts down the paint lineObserves machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessaryWeigh or measure chemicals, coatings, or paints before adding them to machinesMaintain pre-treatment equipment, spray booths, ovens and manual powder gun applicatorsInspects parts for quality and informs supervisor of any problemsComplies with safety procedures, promotes workplace safety and reports all unsafe actsInput and maintain data in ERP computer system/GlobalSetup and operation of equipment to coat products with powder based paintComplete paperwork/job sheets required for areaMust maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requiresInspecting coated items and testing coating thicknessIdentify quality issues and notify supervisor and/or resolve quality issuesPerform minor repairs and adjust equipmentChange out colors in booth hoppers and related activities to color changesClean powder coating spray guns as instructed/maintain water checks, filter changes, continuous improvementClean out paint booth after shiftAssist in other areas as neededRequirements:HS DiplomaExperience in powder coat painting environmentPowder painting experience a plusIndustrial painting experience or experience in a manufacturing or services capacity with an emphasis on painting preferredAbility and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independentlyExcellent verbal communication skillsAbility to work in a team environmentBasic computer skillsBlueprint readingEnvironmental Conditions:Humidity level may be elevated during summer months
