Job Title: Instructor IJob Status: Part-time, up to 24 hours weeklyJob Summary: Under general supervision, the Instructor I creates and provides a safe learning environment designed to engage students and children in academic, mental, and physical health, life skills, and enrichment activities in an educational setting.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Create lesson plans and implement activities that contribute to a climate where children and students are actively engaged in age-appropriate play, learning and meaningful experiencesMay teach participant basic concepts of alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, and comparisonEffectively use age-appropriate behavioral techniques to redirect participant's behaviorEstablish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activitiesIdentify, select and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needsAssist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvementMaintain effective and efficient record-keeping proceduresCommunicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with parents, participants, and other professionals on a regular basisCollaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environmentModel professional and ethical standards when dealing with participants, parents, peers, and communityEnsure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area and/or program classificationAssume responsibility for meeting their course and school-wide student performance goalsDemonstrate gains in student performanceMeet performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planningOperate standard office equipment and use required software applicationsPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of:Fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of effective early childhood learning and play activitiesAge-appropriate methods of redirecting inappropriate behaviorsMay require knowledge of common core standards, and competencies out of school time standards Skill in: Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft OfficeAbility to: Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectivesIncite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomesInterpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriateOrganize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environmentCommunicate effectively orally and in writingWork independently as well as collaboratively within a team environmentHandle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional mannerEstablish and maintain effective working relationships Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:Minimum Degree Required:Associate degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited university/collegePreference will be given to candidates with an Associate degreeRequired Disciplines:Education or related field:21st Century Community Learning Centers Program: Applicants must achieve a score of 70% or higher on the basic mathematics and language arts assessment administered by ACCESS to be considered for employment or provide documentation demonstrating that this test was completed and passed with an equivalent score within the past three years.Adult and Family Learning: Early Childhood Education or CDA Child Development Associate Credential ~and~ At least 2 years of classroom teaching experienceAny equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources Licenses/Certifications:Licenses/Certifications Required at Date of Hire: NoneLicenses/Certifications Required within one year from Date of Hire:16 clock hours of training throughout the yearWorking Conditions:After School hours:Hours: Normal business hours21st Century Community Learning Centers Program: Work after school hours but may vary based on assigned school. Hours may very between 2pm and 6pm depending on the site. Some additional hours may be required.Travel Required: None
