This position focuses on systems and assets associatedwith solar power generation and their integration with the bulk electricsystem. The Principal Engineer, Asset Management (Solar NERCCompliance) develops and maintains programs, studies, anddocumentation to ensure compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standardsas they relate to inverter-based resources (IBRs) and solar plantfacilities. The engineer understands how assets in the modern electricgrid are designed to perform (particularly renewable and inverter-basedtechnologies) and has the skills to develop tools and analytics thatproactively detect reliability, protection, and performance concerns. Usingthis knowledge, the engineer supports proactive mitigation planning, includingoperational limit assessments, performance tuning, capital investment planning,maintenance coordination, and the development of compliance evidence andcorrective action plans to sustain long-term fleet reliability.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Support Development ofSolar Asset Models and Reliability Systems (20%)Assist in developing and maintaining systems, calculations, databases, andmodels that define and track the expected performance of solar generationsystems and related grid equipment. Help identify potential equipment orsystem issues and document their impact on safety, compliance,reliability, cost, and function. Contribute to establishing consistentmethods for monitoring asset condition and performance.- Support Reliability andCompliance Mitigation Activities (20%)Participate in evaluating options for preventing or correcting equipmentor system issues related to solar generation and NERC compliance.Work with senior engineers, operations, and maintenance personnel toorganize data, prepare engineering recommendations, and track the progressof corrective and preventive actions. Assist with the preparation ofdocumentation supporting compliance with applicable NERC standards.- Assist with Complianceand Reliability Projects (20%)Support projects and initiatives that improve the reliability andcompliance of solar generation facilities. Contribute to developingstandard processes, documentation, and tools used to maintain compliancewith NERC reliability standards and company procedures.Provide technical assistance under the guidance of senior engineers duringmaintenance and operational activities.- Participate in Systemand Asset Assessments (10%)Assist in performing assessments of solar facilities and associatedelectrical systems to determine condition, performance, and operatingcapability. Collect data, perform basic analysis, and support fieldmeasurements or studies that confirm equipment health and systemreliability.- Develop and MaintainProcedures and Training Materials (10%)Support the creation and improvement of procedures, checklists, andtraining materials related to solar reliability, grid performance, andcompliance activities. This position is primarily Monday thruFriday with flexibility for some remote work but can involve overtime andweekends work to operations, projects and maintenance outages.
