PCB & Systems Engineer

SticLos Angeles, CAApril 12th, 2026
As a PCB & Embedded Systems Engineer at STIC, you will own the full hardware stack from schematic and layout through firmware bring-up and system validation for our mobility intelligence platform. You will design compact, battery-powered, connected devices that integrate BLE, cellular, GNSS, and edge sensing. This role bridges hardware and firmware, requiring strong system thinking to deliver reliable, production-ready devices that operate in real-world automotive environments. You are expected to move seamlessly from board design to firmware + system validation, owning outcomes end-to-end.What You Will Do Hardware / PCBOwn PCB design from concept through EVT/DVT/PVT and productionDesign compact, low-power boards for BLE, LTE/5G, GNSS, and sensor systemsDevelop schematics and layouts across RF, mixed-signal, and high-speed domainsDrive DFM/DFA, stack-ups, impedance control, and fabrication readinessWork directly with vendors (fab/CM) to resolve yield, cost, and reliability issuesOptimize for EMI/EMC, thermal, and rugged automotive conditionsEmbedded / FirmwareDevelop and maintain embedded firmware (C/C++) for microcontrollers and wireless modulesImplement BLE communication (advertising, scanning, data payloads, RSSI-based logic)Integrate cellular, GNSS, IMU, and camera/sensor interfacesBuild low-power firmware architectures (sleep states, duty cycling, battery optimization)Define and implement device-to-phone/cloud communication protocolsSupport OTA updates, diagnostics, and field reliability improvementsSystem OwnershipBring up new boards, debug hardware/firmware issues, and validate system performanceCollaborate with software and AI teams for full system integrationDefine test plans and support validation (RF performance, power, environmental)Inspect and debug PCBAs, closing the loop into design improvementsEstablish reusable hardware + firmware platforms for scalingWhat You Will NeedBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldStrong experience in:PCB design (Altium preferred)Embedded firmware development (C/C++)Experience with wireless systems (BLE required, cellular/GNSS a plus)Deep understanding of:RF layout fundamentals and antenna considerationsPower management and battery-operated systemsSignal integrity and mixed-signal designHands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, and validationAbility to move fast, make decisions with incomplete data, and own outcomesWhat Will Set You ApartExperience building end-to-end embedded devices (hardware + firmware)Strong BLE expertise (payload design, scanning strategies, RSSI modeling)Experience with openCVExperience with nRF, STM, Snapdragon, NVIDIA, ESP32, or similar platformsFamiliarity with LTE/5G modules and GNSS integrationExposure to edge sensing (camera, ML-enabled modules, sensor fusion)Experience with EVT/DVT/PVT and scaling to productionBackground in IoT, automotive, or rugged field-deployed systemsWhy This Role Matters at STICThis role is the backbone of STIC’s transition from prototype (BLE + off-the-shelf) to a fully integrated, proprietary hardware + intelligence platform. You will directly shape the device that powers:Data captureEdge intelligenceReal-world deployment at scaleThis is a 0 to 1 + 1 to N role build it, prove it, scale it.
