Fleet Manager
Description:
The Fleet Manager will oversee and maintain the organization’s fleet of trucks, trailers and other specialized equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversees or delegates responsibility for the day-to-day workflow of the department and staff.
Ability to recruit, screen, interview and hire drivers.
Coordinate with HR onboarding, orientation and documentation; understand required documents to obtain and maintain in a driver’s qualification file.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develops schedules and procedures for and ensures adherence to routine maintenance and non-routine repair of all vehicles in the company’s fleet.
Audit and review drivers’ electronic logs and trip sheets for accuracy, adhere to HOS regulations.
Collaborate with supervisors and staff to manage and reduce expenses such as those for fuel and labor costs.
Calculate payroll from timesheets – trip tickets/Business Central Report
Establishes a schedule for recommended replacement of fleet vehicles.
Draft and presents reports on department operations, quarterly safety meetings.
Ability to perform all registration and licensing renewals for an apportioned fleet, including UCR, IFTA, 2290 (Heavy Tax), ad Valorem, IRP, Biennial updates.
Develops and enforces procedures, policies, and safety protocols for all fleet services staff.
Must possess a broad knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations of safety and compliance standards set forth by FMCSA and the DOT.
Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements:
Extensive knowledge and understanding of fleet management and operations.
Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget and to monitor and reduce expenses.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, E-Roads or similar software.
Educations and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Five years of experience in fleet maintenance or repair with two years in a supervisory role required.
Valid driver’s license.
