Senior Facilities Technician
Position Overview
We're looking for a hands-on Senior Facilities Technician to operate, maintain, and repair utility and infrastructure systems on a large camp and retreat center campus. This is primarily a hands-on, working role, not a desk job, for someone who takes ownership of keeping power on, water flowing, and systems running.
You'll be the primary on-site expert for electrical, water, wastewater, and backup power systems. When something breaks, you're the first call - but it’s even better if you made sure that it doesn’t break! You'll work closely with facilities leadership and outside contractors, but you're expected to diagnose problems and make repairs yourself whenever possible.
We're also in a multi-year building phase, and this role will have a seat at the table during design discussions for new construction to bring practical, field-level insight to help us build new facilities that are great spaces for our campers and retreat guests as well as being easier to maintain and operate for decades to come.
This role works on a busy campus full of kids during summer and churches, schools, and other community groups in the spring and fall. We're looking for someone who takes safety seriously, models integrity, and is drawn to mission-driven work.
What You'll Work On
Utilities & Infrastructure
Electrical distribution (including 3-phase systems)
Wells, pumps, water treatment, and pressure systems
Septic systems including wastewater lift stations and treatment plants
Backup generators and transfer switches
Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and emergency repairs
Commercial Equipment & HVAC
Building HVAC systems (residential-scale units, split systems, package units)
Commercial kitchen equipment (ranges, steamers, dishwashers, exhaust hoods)
Walk-in refrigeration and freezers, ice machines
Swimming pool systems (pumps, filtration, chemical balance)
Grounds & Equipment
Equipment operation (tractor, backhoe, telehandler, skid steer)
Chainsaw work and storm response
Trenching, pipe repair, conduit installation, site work
General Maintenance & Minor Construction
Routine facility repairs (door hardware, locks, toilet and faucet repairs, light fixtures, etc.)
Minor construction and carpentry projects
Preventive maintenance across all building systems
Pitch in wherever needed to keep the campus running
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Maintain preventive maintenance schedules
Cross-train other staff so critical knowledge doesn't disappear
New Construction Input
Participate in design discussions for upcoming building projects, providing practical input on maintainability, utility routing, equipment selection, and serviceability
Review plans and specs from an operations perspective to catch problems on paper before they become problems in the field
Support construction projects
What We're Looking For
Required
Hands-on experience with utility or infrastructure systems
Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance background
Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
Heavy equipment operation (backhoe, skid steer, excavator)
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
Comfortable working on a campus with children and families present
Able to pass a thorough background check
Valid driver's license
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience with wells, pumps, or pressurized water systems
Familiarity with 3-phase electrical distribution
Septic or wastewater system experience
Generator operation and maintenance
HVAC experience (residential and light commercial systems)
Commercial kitchen equipment experience
Pool operator certification or experience
Boat engine maintenance and repair (outboard and inboard)
Experience working with architects, engineers, or contractors on construction projects
Military, campus, municipal, or plant background
The Right Fit
You take safety seriously - not just for yourself, but for your co-workers and for the kids and guests on campus
You're honest, even when it's inconvenient
You're drawn to work that matters in addition to a paycheck
You're comfortable in a faith-based environment (you don't have to share our beliefs, but you can't be hostile to them)
Schedule & On-Call
Full-time, year-round (approximately 40 hours/week)
Some weekend and evening work based on operational needs
On-call for serious emergencies and weather events
Flexibility to adjust schedule when circumstances require
What We Offer
$75,000 – $85,000 annually, based on experience
Health insurance
Retirement plan with employer contribution and profit sharing option
Paid time off
Meals during programming seasons
Stable, year-round employment
Work that matters on a beautiful 643-acre waterfront campus

We're also in an exciting upgrade phase with multiple new lodges and other facility expansions planned in the coming years.
