Assistant Manager - Store

OverviewThe Assistant Store Manager assists in the management of the retail facility. The Assistant Store Manager should know the necessary aspects of store operation and act as the Store Manager in their absence, on a short-time basis.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport the "Cavender's Culture" and drive our Mission, Vision, and ValuesAssist in the management of the retail store and the supervision of store associatesKnow necessary aspects of store operation and act as the Store Manager in his/her absenceAssist in the day-to-day operation of the storeAssist in the training of new store associatesAssist in the preparation of store reportsMaintain an awareness of safety/security issues and report any accidents or incidents occurring during the Store Manager's absence to the Store Manager promptlyUnderstand and implement company policies and proceduresAssist in the effort to increase sales, maintain profit structure and reduce controllable expensesOpen and close store as directedAssist in performing daily check-ups and making bank depositsAssist in the maintenance of interior/exterior store image and appearance (including staff appearance)Assist in the maintenance of all records and filesReview and correct timecard exceptions and missed punches, and approve payrollAssist in the practice of shrinkage control through preventative measures and through legal prosecution (when possible) upon catching anyone stealing from the companyAssist in resolution of personnel/customer problems and complaintsAssist in all other duties considered usual and customary in the retail apparel/footwear industryAssist store manager in all other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisors or home officeUnderstand all reports generated by the home office and coach all associates the actions needed to ensure compliance to goals (i.e. ADS / UPT's / Payroll / Refunds / Turnover)Qualifications and RequirementsAbility to comprehend basic instructionsAbility to interpret documentsAbility to apply abstract principles to a wide range of complex tasksAbility to understand the meanings of words and effectively respondAbility to analyze information and write reportsAssociate must be able to read English.Associate must be able to understand EnglishAssociate must be able to stay alert during work hours assignedCavender's is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
