SUMMER INTERN - ROAD EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

This is an intern position without benefits. The Fayette County Road Department is seeking a high school student looking to gain operating construction equipment experience as an Intern for the summer. This position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in Public Works in local government. Major duties include but are not limited to:• Construction Equipment Operation: Learn entry level introduction to the following construction equipment: excavator, rubber tire loader, skid steer, and grass tractor. This includes safety and general maintenance of each of these pieces of equipment.• Traffic Control Certification: Will go through training to receive Traffic Control Certification for the ability to perform traffic control. Will receive a Certification Card that will be good for 2 years.• General Labor: Provide general labor for construction crews when not learning to operate equipment.• Additional Duties: Perform other tasks assigned to support Road Department operations.Qualifications:• Ability to work outside and in high temperature environments for 8+ hours daily• Ability to stand for 8+ hours daily• Ability to lift 10 lbs+Benefits:• Hands-on experience with local government Road Department• Opportunity to learn the basics of operating construction equipment• Exposure to real life Public Works activities and environmentCode : 105-13Grade : TEMP/ SEASONAL
