Job Title: Mainframe Developer (Natural & ADABAS)Location: Remote (Bismarck, ND)Duration: 12 Months plusJob Summary Design, develop, test, and support enhancements to mainframe applications for State of North Dakota programs. Perform hands-on development using COBOL, Natural, JCL, ADABAS, and DB2. Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Produce clear technical documentation (design docs, runbooks, change notes). Collaborate with Agile teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Participate in a shared on-call rotation for application support. Execute solid testing discipline and manage defects throughout the development lifecycle. Utilize data and design tools (e.g., QMF, Visio) for analysis and documentation. Maintain and enhance both existing and new mainframe application components. Ensure integration with various platforms (e.g., MQ, file-based interfaces, service layers) as needed. Adhere to organizational standards for mainframe CI/CD and job scheduling tools. Support knowledge sharing and informal mentorship within the team. Leverage experience in enterprise or public sector environments, preferably with state government or regulated industries.
