Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, RAPTOR TURBOMACHINERYAs the Manufacturing Engineer for Raptor production at SpaceX, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop, implement and optimize the production process for key sub-assemblies and components for the Raptor engine.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop the manufacturing and integration processes for turbomachinery components and assemblies in the Raptor engineImplement new manufacturing capabilities and think creatively to resolve and challenge conflicting requirementsOptimize existing requirements, approaches and processes based on measurement or test dataDevelop and design tooling and processes for rapid and repeatable balance correction methods unique to part geometriesDevelop, demonstrate and drive to completion innovative production processes to support high rate production targetsWork with an extremely fast paced environment and adapt to evolving design and production challengesMaintain a sense of ownership for all aspects of the engine turbopumps including, design, fabrication, and delivery scheduleDrive design and process changes that support program goals, through demonstration of feasibilityWork closely with design/development engineers and fabrications shops (internal and external) to get parts built and assembledAssist with design, analysis, and integration of Raptor sub-assemblies to resolve non-conformance issues and develop sustainable repair proceduresResolve recurring manufacturing discrepancies and interface with quality team to implement corrective actionsInterface with production technicians, engineering team, and leadership on a daily basisBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline* 1+ years of industry experience in propulsion or power generation product design, development, fabrication, assembly, or testPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:3+ years of experience with turbomachinery or rotating machinery, with expertise in dynamic balance processesAbility to work in dynamic team environmentExpertise in design for manufacturability and design for assembly, successfully taking products through development, testing, and productionExperience in a medium/high-volume production environment within the aerospace industryADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:This is a hands-on position that may require standing for up to 4 hours a day and working directly with hardware on the floorAble to stoop, bend, stand, and enter a confined spacePosition may require long hours and weekend workMust be willing to travel, up to 5%COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:Manufacturing Engineer/Level I: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00/per yearManufacturing Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
