Mechanical Design Engineer

*Position:* Mechanical Design Engineer *Location:* San Francisco, CA *Job Type:* Full-Time *Work Arrangement:* On-Site Job Summary We are looking for a *Mechanical Design Engineer* with 2–5 years of experience to design, build, and test mechanical systems for autonomous robotic applications. This is a hands-on role where you will take designs from concept through physical prototype and work closely with robotics, electrical, and software teams. Responsibilities * Design mechanical parts, assemblies, and subsystems using CAD. * Take designs from initial concept through prototyping, testing, and iteration. * Perform hand calculations and basic FEA as needed. * Select materials, tolerances, and appropriate manufacturing methods. * Build prototypes using *3D printing, CNC machining, and shop tools*. * Integrate mechanical components with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators. * Collaborate with electrical, software, and robotics teams. * Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design-for-manufacturing principles. Requirements * 2–5 years of mechanical design engineering experience. * Strong experience with *SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape*. * Hands-on experience with *3D printing, CNC machining, and rapid prototyping*. * Knowledge of FEA, GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes. * Experience designing and building physical prototypes. * Robotics, automation, aerospace, automotive, or hardware experience is a plus. * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
