This role will provide legal and business advice and support with respect to all aspects of the business, including domestic and international corporate and transactional matters (e.g. structuring, negotiating and drafting agreements, providing legal interpretation of existing agreements, and evaluating and recommending methods of avoiding or managing legal risks); supporting investigations, mediations and litigation; public company filings and reports, subsidiary formation and management; and other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.Location: Tulsa, OKWork Type: Traditional – On-siteWhat You Will DoDraft, review and negotiate a diverse range of agreements common to the oil and gas industry, including drilling and technology contracts, master services agreements, master purchase agreements, and confidentiality agreementsAnalyze and interpret laws, statutes and regulations, and identify areas of compliance, as well as potential vulnerability and risk; partner with the appropriate business unit(s) and/or operations in order to develop and implement appropriate action plansProvide legal guidance and assist the Company's efforts on all corporate and strategic transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, inter-company relationships, complex commercial agreements, and other corporate activitiesAssist Human Resources on a variety of employment mattersProvide advice in a wide array of practice areas and special projects as neededKeep up to date with respect to industry related laws and regulations to help identify changes and incorporate them into policies, and procedures, and agreementsProvide litigation guidance, including review and preparation of pleadings, motions, and discovery; assist with preparation of witnesses for deposition; case reporting and deadline trackingAnalyze claims/litigation to effectively participate in decisions related to resolution strategyAssist in conducting workplace investigations into allegations of misconduct, including performing interviews and preparing written summaries and formal investigative reportsPerform additional tasks as requested What You NeedProven ability to quickly and effectively prioritize, review, and negotiate agreements in the context of business circumstances and provide advice that recognizes and integrates legal risk and business objectivesStrong interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from multiple departments and disciplines at all levels of the organizationAbility to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teamsSound judgment even in ambiguous situationsStrong attention to detail and proactive approachExcellent verbal and written communication skillsJ.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in Oklahoma (or eligible for admission within six months of hire)A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in-house or with a strong regional or national law firm preferredExperience in the oil and gas industry or international law preferredFluency in Spanish or Arabic a plusAbility to occasionally travel internationallyWhat We OfferAt H&P, our commitment to our employees is at the forefront and that includes benefits that provide employees with a sense of health and financial security.
