Under general supervision, the Custodian performs a wide variety of cleaning, maintenance, and setup duties to ensure university buildings, classrooms, restrooms, offices, residence halls, and event spaces are clean, safe, sanitary, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include routine custodial work, special project cleaning, minor maintenance, and event support. This role ensures a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas. Empty and sanitize trash and recycling bins. Maintain and restock supplies in restrooms and other facilities. Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces. Respond to special cleaning requests and emergencies as needed. Operate and maintain custodial equipment effectively and safely. Report maintenance issues or hazards to the supervisor promptly. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment. Assist with setup and take down for university events as required. Collaborate with the custodial team to support overall operations and special projects. Participate in ongoing training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge. Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent. Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions. Physical ability to perform tasks that include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Starting Rate is $14.75 Misericordia University is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.
