The project main goals are to develop sector-specific drought indices and expected impacts across California, co-develop metrics with stakeholders, to finally create a decision-support web platform. The postdoctoral research associate might also collaborate in other projects related with the socio-economic impacts of water allocation.This is a two-year, full-time, in-person position beginning in Fall 2026 and located in Davis, California.Required QualificationsPh.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering, or related fieldStrong understanding of drought characterization, agricultural and urban systems, and their linkages with water supply systemsCoding skills (Python)Strong communication skills in oral and written EnglishAbility to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary teamPreferred QualificationsWater systems modelingWeb-based dashboards, decision-support tools, online data visualizationMachine learning approachesWater economics and policyContact Alvar Escriva-Bou (aescriva@ucdavis.edu) for more information.
