About the RoleCircadence is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help build Project Ares, our hands-on cybersecurity workforce training and assessment platform. Project Ares combines structured learning, RPG-style progression, and live Azure-hosted cyber ranges where trainees practice in real virtual machines and network environments through the browser. The platform supports enterprise, defense, and government customers that need measurable evidence of effective cybersecurity skill development. This is a senior, product-oriented engineering role for someone with imagination who can own features end to end: domain modeling, API design, frontend implementation, tests, deployment, observability, and production hardening. You will work with product managers, AI researchers, and experienced software engineers across a modern TypeScript monorepo with a NestJS backend, Prisma + PostgreSQL, and React / Next.js applications. This is a hybrid role with a requirement of up to two days per week in our Boulder office.A Note on AI-assisted EngineeringAI coding assistants are a first-class part of our engineering workflow. We use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and similar systems to plan, write, review, test, and ship software. We are looking for candidates who already know how to use these tools responsibly in production contexts: writing useful plans and prompts, reviewing AI-generated diffs, designing codebases that agents can navigate, and knowing when to take the wheel manually. This is not a prompt-only role. The right candidate has strong software engineering fundamentals, sound architectural judgment, and a track record of shipping reliable production systems. What You’ll BuildFull stack product features across NestJS APIs and React / Next.js applications.Cyber-range orchestration workflows for Azure-backed virtual machines, warm pools, lifecycle automation, file deployment, and browser-based RDP/SSH/VNC entry points.Evidence-first content attempt tracking, scoring, analytics, reporting, and audit trails.Authoring and publishing tools for developing and enhancing cybersecurity training content, including automated adversary agents, observability-enhancing instrumentation, and LLM-driven interactions.Reliable tests across unit, integration, and Playwright E2E layers so the team can refactor confidently.Internal AI-development guardrails, prompts, skills, review practices, and agent-friendly engineering conventions. What You’ll DoDesign, implement, test, and ship senior-level product and platform work across the stack.Lead features through an AI-forward development workflow: scope, plan, delegate where appropriate, review generated code, verify behavior, and harden for production.Model complex product domains clearly in TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Prisma while keeping API contracts explicit and maintainable.Improve the Azure-backed range platform, including provisioning, orchestration, tenant-aware deployment targets, and operational resilience.Participate in architecture discussions on performance, observability, data integrity, multi-tenancy, and long-term platform evolution.Collaborate asynchronously with engineering, content, product, and operations teammates.Required Qualifications7+ years building and shipping production web applications, including meaningful full stack ownership.Collaborative attitude and lifelong learner mindset.Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants to build, test, and ship non-trivial production features. (Be prepared to discuss specific examples, tradeoffs, and review practices.)Strong TypeScript proficiency across backend and frontend development.Production experience with Node.js backend frameworks; NestJS strongly preferred, with Express or Fastify also relevant.Production experience with React and Next.js, including modern server/client state patterns such as TanStack Query, Zustand, or comparable approaches.Practical experience with Prisma or comparable ORM patterns, PostgreSQL data modeling, migrations, query design, and raw SQL when appropriate.Strong API design skills across REST, OpenAPI, schema validation, and durable client/server contracts.Experience with multi-tenant SaaS patterns such as tenant scoping, RBAC, audit trails, and data isolation.Fluency with Docker-based development and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.Strong testing, debugging, system design, and written communication skills.Preferred QualificationsProduction Azure experience, especially Container Apps, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Blob Storage, Key Vault, ACR, Terraform, and CI/CD.Experience with Auth0, OIDC, custom claims, RBAC, or comparable identity platforms.Experience orchestrating ephemeral cloud infrastructure, VM lifecycles, ARM/Bicep templates, Apache Guacamole or similar remote-access gateways, or warm-pool provisioning.Experience with TailwindCSS, design systems, accessibility, and internationalization/localization.Familiarity with content versioning, staged publishing workflows, immutability, auditability, or regulated training systems.Cybersecurity, cyber range, security training, certification platform, or workforce framework experience, including NIST NICE or DCWF.Experience contributing to internal AI tooling such as custom agents, MCP servers, prompt libraries, evals, or AI-assisted code review systems. What Makes Someone Successful HereYou are a builder who can turn ambiguous product needs into maintainable production software. You care about clean domain boundaries, data integrity, testability, and operational safety. You are excited by human-plus-AI engineering workflows, but you do not outsource judgment. You communicate clearly in writing and can make progress in an async, distributed team. You are comfortable touching product code, platform workflows, infrastructure-adjacent systems, and developer tooling. Please answer the screening questions in your cover letter.Circadence Corporation is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.https://www.eeoc.gov/know-your-rights-workplace-discrimination-illegal
