Mathematics Teacher

POSITION: High School Mathematics TeacherLOCATION: Arlington High SchoolPOSITION GOAL: To provide mathematics instruction according to the Arlington Public Schoolcurriculum and Massachusetts standards.QUALIFICATIONS:Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Mathematics Teacher at the Secondary levelDegrees in Mathematics and Education preferredComputer Science content knowledge and teaching experience desiredExperience working with students at the High School Level.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous mathematics lessonsDifferentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners with varied learning profilesAssess student performance formally and informally, and provide timely feedback to students on their progressTeach five sections of mathematics, that could include Algebra II, Geometry, and PrecalculusCollaborate with colleagues to assess student outcomes and share best practices for teaching mathematics.Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture where all students feel supported and encouraged to participate.Follow district policies and school and department expectations with respect to instruction, grading, and communication to parents and familiesPerform other such related duties as may be required by the Director of Mathematics or Building Administrators.TERMS OFEMPLOYMENT: Arlington Education Association Bargaining Unit Position,REPORTS TO: K-12 Mathematics and Computer Science Director (primary) and building principals (contributing).SALARY: Per the Arlington Education Association ContractEVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Arlington Education Association Contract. The K-12 Mathematics and Computer Science Director will complete evaluations with support from the building principals.Arlington has a well established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year.Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.The Salary Schedule is on our website.
