Systems Engineer (DO-178) (Phoenix)

OverviewSeeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep DO-178 experience to lead the development and certification of safety-critical avionics systems. This role is responsible for driving system architecture, requirements quality, and certification strategy across complex programs.Key ResponsibilitiesLead development of system architecture and high-level requirements (HLRs) for avionics systemsOwn requirements quality, traceability, and compliance across the full DO-178 lifecycleGuide and review work products to ensure alignment with certification objectives (DAL A–C)Drive verification strategy, including requirements-based testing and coverage considerationsLead or support FAA/EASA certification efforts, including SOI auditsDevelop and review key certification artifacts:PSAC, SDP, SVP, SASInterface directly with:Customers (OEMs/suppliers)DERs and certification authoritiesMentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical leadership across teamsRequired Qualifications8–15+ years of experience in systems engineering, avionics, or embedded softwareStrong, hands-on experience with DO-178B/C on certified programsProven experience working on high DAL programs (A–C)Deep expertise in:Requirements development and decompositionTraceability and complianceVerification and validation processesExperience supporting certification audits (SOIs)Proficiency with requirements tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion)Preferred QualificationsExperience defining or leading certification strategyBackground in model-based systems engineering (SysML) or DO-331Prior consulting or customer-facing engineering experienceExperience across multiple avionics platforms or programs
