Nurse Practitioner | Surgery - Cardiothoracic Location: Williamsport, PA Employer: Adelphi Locums Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: ASAP About the Position JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA • Job Type: Full-Time • Location: UPMC Williamsport, PA • Service Setting: Inpatient and Operating Room • Coverage Type: Clinical Call • Coverage Period: 05/01/2025 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM with night call from 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM • On-Call Shift Schedule: Weekends 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM with hospital rounds approximately 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM • Call Type: In-house & Emergency Surgery • Call Ratio: Rotating (1 week on / 1 week off schedule considered); weekend call varies but follows a rotation • Call Response Time: 30 minutes COVERAGE DATES • Start date May 1, 2025 (subject to credentialing) • Ongoing need due to provider on leave and vacancy PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults only • Patient Volume/Census: Varies but minimal, with 1–2 surgical cases per day; surgeons take first overnight call • Admissions: Yes – surgical cases • Rounding: Required on weekends and as part of scheduled duties • Phone Consults: Yes, fielded by physicians overnight • Case Mix: CABG, thoracic surgery, AVR, TAVR, aortic cases; 60 pump cases since Jan 2025; 181 pump cases in 2024 FACILITY INFORMATION • Trauma Level: Level II • EMR System: Cerner and Epic • Office Equipment Available: Olympus HD towers, Getinge EVH with Vasoview Hemopro 2 system • Specialty Backup Available: Yes • Support Staff Available: 2 surgical APPs, 2 floor APPs; usually 3–4 APPs on at a time • Reason for Coverage: Turnover and FMLA leave PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: 90 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered • Travel Details: • Airfare: Economy seating, 1 checked bag • Lodging: Up to $150/night at non-preferred hotels; UPMC preferred hotel list available • Mileage: IRS rate • Rental Car: Mid-size ($50/day) Apr–Nov; 4WD SUV ($75/day) Dec–Mar • Parking: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • First assist in cardiothoracic surgical cases • Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) using Getinge equipment and Olympus camera systems JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Pennsylvania license (not required to apply) • Board: Board Certified NP or PA • DEA: Required • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPR • Experience: Minimum 1 year; new grads considered depending on experience • Other Qualifications: • Must be able to scrub for CT surgery as a first assist • Weekend-only availability considered DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Scrub and assist with scheduled surgical cases (1–2 daily) • Cover hospital in partnership with other APPs (divide and manage patient list) • Round and assess patients in inpatient setting • Participate in weekend rounds and emergency surgical coverage as needed • Communicate and collaborate closely with cardiothoracic surgeons
