Retirement Associate (Attorney)OverviewGroom Law Group is seeking an associate to support our Retirement, Executive Compensation, and Tax group, with a primary focus on retirement plan compliance and related matters. This position may be structured as a remote or flexible work arrangement.ResponsibilitiesThe associate will primarily support the firm’s Retirement, Executive Compensation and Tax group and will be expected to: · advise clients on tax-qualified retirement plans, including 401(k), profit-sharing, defined benefit, and cash balance plans; · provide guidance on nonqualified deferred compensation and broader executive compensation arrangements, including equity plans, executive retention packages, and compensation considerations in mergers and acquisitions;· conduct legal research and analysis on ERISA, tax, and employee benefits matters to support client advice and strategy;· draft, review, and revise plan documents, agreements, and client communications with precision and clarity; · assist in managing a variety of complex matters and transactions from inception through execution, including compliance reviews, plan corrections, and implementation project; · build and maintain strong client relationships, providing practical, timely, and business-oriented advice.QualificationsCandidates with relevant 5 - 8 years of substantive experience with tax-qualified retirement plans, including 401(k) and defined benefit, and bonus for 403(b) and church/tax-exempt plans, on the tax and ERISA side (as applicable); Strong knowledge of ERISA and tax requirements applicable to retirement and executive compensation arrangements; experience working directly with clients, ability to identify issues and execute work; solid understanding of recent changes in law and plan drafting and implementation considerations; ability to manage workload that includes multiple projects for multiple clients/principals are encouraged to apply; please send a resume, transcripts, and writing sample to recruiting@groom.com. The expected annual pay range for this position is $$325,000 - $385,000. Please note that the offer amount will be dependent on attorney class year, relevant experience, and skillset.
