Admissions Director (nursing home)

An internal Admissions Director for a nursing home manages the entire resident intake process, acting as the primary liaison between hospitals, families, and the facility to drive census goals. Key duties include reviewing clinical/financial records, conducting tours, verifying insurance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and facilitating smooth, empathetic transitions for new residents. Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdmissions Management: Coordinate the complete intake process from initial inquiry to move-in, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations.Referral Development: Build relationships with hospital discharge planners, physicians, and community partners to maintain high, quality-focused census levels.Clinical & Financial Screening: Review medical records for appropriateness and verify insurance benefits, payor sources, and financial responsibility.Family & Resident Support: Act as the main point of contact, providing tours, explaining services, and offering emotional support to families and prospective residents.Coordination & Communication: Collaborate with the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) and administration to manage daily bed availability and ensure the facility can meet the resident's care needs.Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential files, including contracts and agreements.Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement strategies to meet marketing, census, and quality mix goals for the facility.Key QualificationsExperience: Often requires 1-5+ years in nursing home admissions or related healthcare administration.Skills: Exceptional communication (verbal and written), organizational skills, and proficiency with admissions/medical software.Emotional Intelligence: Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and interact effectively with elderly or distressed individuals.Excellent Benefits available.
