Sheet Metal Worker
Overview:
This is an employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings used in demanding applications all over the world.
Responsibilities:
Grind material defects with hand grinder or overhead grinder.
Coordinate pre-forge load with Blacksmith or appropriate forge personnel.
Load, unload, and operate furnace to maintain production schedule for forge cycles and post-forge thermal cycles in accordance with forge manual.
Remove scrap from the press pits, unload scrap in the appropriate dumpster according to metal type. Record weights on appropriate paper work.
Locate material according to shop order information, verify material identity, visually examine material for defects, and transport material, scrap, and forgings throughout production area.
Fuel press support equipment, long reaches and fork trucks. Work as a heavy equipment operator.
Perform general housekeeping work - clean furnaces and floors. Grind out imperfections.
Repair forge tools with welder or grinder.
Actively participate to promote a safe and healthy work environment. Follow policies, programs and procedures for the reduction and elimination of industrial accidents.
Qualifications:
High school diploma / GED and completion
Basic manufacturing or shop math (measuring and converting metrics, decimals…)
Skills:
Ability to read a tape measure and interpret blueprints.
Must be capable of performing a wide variety of tasks and react quickly.
Experience with a micrometer or caliper is a plus.
Previous experience with heavy equipment operation.
Previous experience with crane rigging and operation
Helpful experience includes metal fabrication, heavy equipment operator, machine operator, roofing, seal coating, forging, casting, measurements, band saws, boring, gauges, grinding, trim, manufacturing, working with overhead cranes, material handling, farm equipment, skid steer, etc
