With deep expertise in grid modernization and a passion for creating resilient, responsive energy solutions, Critical Loop drives innovation at the intersection of technology and energy.About the Role:We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to help design and deploy next-generation energy systems at the intersection of power infrastructure, battery energy storage, and distributed energy resources (DERs). This role is ideal for someone who understands the intent behind electrical codes, not just the letter, and can thoughtfully navigate compliance while enabling innovation.You’ll work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where new ideas move quickly from concept to deployment. If you’re energized by solving complex power challenges and pushing technical boundaries responsibly, this is the role for you.What You’ll Do:Lead electrical design and engineering for power systems, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and DER integrationsDesign and review electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, panelboards, and custom electrical panelsDevelop and review single-line diagrams, protection schemes, grounding plans, and equipment specificationsEngage directly with customers and partners to support technical discussions, project development, and issue resolutionParticipate in site visits, commissioning activities, and field troubleshooting as neededEnsure designs comply with NEC, local codes, UL standards, and utility requirements while identifying opportunities for creative, compliant solutionsCollaborate cross-functionally with product, manufacturing, and operations teams to bring projects from concept through commissioningInterface with utilities, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), and inspection bodies to support project approvalsPerform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash) and validate system performanceStay current with evolving codes, standards, and emerging technologies in energy storage and distributed generationWhat We’re Looking For:RequiredBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering7+ years of experience in power systems, energy storage, renewables, or related fieldsStrong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its real-world applicationExperience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV, microgrids, or other DERsHands-on experience with electrical panel design, including layout, component selection, and integration into larger power systemsProficiency in power system analysis toolsProficiency in industry-standard electrical CAD toolsExperience working with utilities and navigating interconnection processesDemonstrated ability to develop engineering processes, standards, or best practicesAbility to interpret codes pragmatically and propose compliant, forward-thinking solutionsWillingness to travel (estimated 25%, depending on project needs)PreferredActive Professional Engineer (PE) licenseFamiliarity with UL 508A or similar panel standardsStrong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersWhat Sets You Apart:You understand not just what the code says, but why it exists—and when flexibility is appropriateYou bring both system-level thinking and hands-on design experience (down to the panel level)You’ve helped build or scale engineering processes in a growing organizationYou’re comfortable operating in ambiguity and moving quickly without sacrificing engineering integrityYou’ve worked on projects that required creative problem-solving within regulatory constraintsYou enjoy collaborating across disciplines and influencing technical directionWhy Join Critical Loop?Compensation: $150,000 to $200,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus equityReal ownership from day one.
