Data Center Operations Technician

A company vehicle is provided to support daily travel and on-site responsibilities.Primary Services is recruiting a Data Center Operations Technician for a large enterprise organization responsible for managing high-availability facilities and interconnected data environments across multiple partner sites. This role requires strong technical knowledge of facility systems, environmental controls, and infrastructure maintenance, and it supports both internal teams and external customers in a fast-paced, on-site setting.ResponsibilitiesPerform daily walkthroughs verifying HVAC, power systems, alarms, security controls, and environmental conditions.Monitor airflow patterns, hot and cold aisle alignment, temperature, humidity levels, and UPS performance.Identify facility issues and coordinate vendor repairs, including quote evaluation and approval workflows.Serve as primary emergency contact for HVAC, power, and environmental failures requiring immediate response.Conduct customer facility tours and support sales presentations of data center capabilities.Prepare and install customer cabinets, including cleaning, labeling, power validation, and network readiness checks.Install and maintain fiber and copper cross-connects and support customer infrastructure deployments.Administer physical access control, including badge management, access logs, audits, and contractor oversight.Audit customer cabinets, cross-connects, power usage, and infrastructure accuracy across systems.Maintain and update diagrams, inventory records, and site documentation to reflect current conditions.Coordinate with Accounting, Sales, and Network Operations to align physical infrastructure with documented records.Develop preventative maintenance plans for owned infrastructure across partner data center sites.Evaluate remote hub locations and core infrastructure sites to identify maintenance needs and risks.Produce maintenance recommendations for equipment deployed in third-party facilities.QualificationsExperience in data center operations, facility support, or critical infrastructure environments.Understanding of HVAC systems, airflow management, UPS systems, and power distribution fundamentals.Experience with fiber and copper cabling, including cross-connect installation.Ability to safely operate tools, ladders, and perform physical infrastructure work in facility environments.Ability to respond to emergencies on an on-call basis.Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean MVR required.Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed.Familiarity with environmental monitoring and alerting systems preferred.Experience with DC power systems and multi-tenant data center environments preferred.Experience maintaining infrastructure documentation and inventory tracking systems preferred.Pay range: $80,000–$90,000, depending on experience, plus bonus.
