SummaryThe General Laborer is vital in the overall operation of the Pavement Preservation Team. General Laborers perform the tasks necessary for the day-to-day operations and application of products.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesControls flow of traffic by flaggingOperates construction and/or power equipment for use in asphalt paving Loads, hauls and unloads various equipment, materials, and suppliesPerforms routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisorCleans equipmentFollows all safety policies and practicesAll other duties as assignedDrives company vehicle to and from job site, including interstate drivingRequiredSkills and EducationHigh School diploma or GED equivalent Valid Driver's LicenseDOT Med Card (Or ability to get one prior to start date)DOT Flagger Training Certificate (Or ability to get one prior to start date)Aptitude for learning new tasks and skillsPreferredAsphalt materiel handling Asphalt machinery experienceJob RequirementsAbility to work in a team environment with other crew members, as well as the ability to work independently without close supervisionMust be available for overnight travel at job sitesMust be able to work overtime and have a willingness to be flexible in schedulingAbility to work varied shifts and long hours during peak operation times (spring, summer and fall)Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds and recognize unsafe operating conditionsAbility to perform work which requires frequent and regular movement of wrists, hands, and/or fingersAbility to perform work which requires frequent and regular walking and standingAbility to see, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterityWork EnvironmentWork sites are outdoors and may require that work be done in adverse weather conditions. This position requires its responsibilities to be performed in potentially hazardous traffic conditions.
