Senior Python Developer - W2 Contract

Position: Senior Python DeveloperLocation: RemoteDuration: 12 Months Contract Expertise in: Python / React / AWSW2 ContractJob Description:Build the platform that administers annuity and insurance policies, from case intake through enrollment and ongoing servicing. Work across a Python backend and a TypeScript/React frontend, with strong AWS, CI/CD, DevOps, testing, and production ownership.What you will DO-Design and build backend APIs/services in Python, preferably FastAPI or Flask.• Build user-facing features in TypeScript, React, and modern frontend patterns.• Design and evolve relational database schemas, SQL queries, migrations, validation rules, and data integrity controls.• Write unit, integration, API, regression, and E2E tests as standard engineering practice.• Join spec review before implementation starts; clarify ambiguity, risks, assumptions, and edge cases before build.• Submit and review PRs; explain technical decisions clearly in writing and in client-facing reviews or demos.• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly for scaffolding, refactoring, tests, debugging, documentation, and code review.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSProfessional Python backend/API experience and strong React plus TypeScript or strong JavaScript experience.• Solid relational database and SQL skills, including schema design, migrations, query performance, indexes, and data validation.• Automated testing and CI/CD experience, with Git and pull-request code review workflow.• Hands-on AWS experience, including Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/Aurora, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, environment configuration, and deployment patterns.• DevOps experience across build, test, scan, package, deploy, validate, monitor, and rollback processes.• Infrastructure-as-Code exposure using Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or equivalent.• Strong written and verbal communication; able to articulate technical choices, assumptions, blockers, risks, and release impacts clearly.AI-NATIVE DELIVERYUses enterprise-approved AI tools, validates generated code, and can explain what was accepted, rejected, and why.• Experience developing or integrating AI-enabled capabilities using LLM APIs, RAG, structured outputs, tool/function calling, or agentic workflows is strongly preferred.• Understands grounding, evaluation, hallucination risk, guardrails, prompt/version management, security, and human validation.SECURITY & PRODUCTION DISCIPLINESecure API design, authentication, authorization, RBAC, least privilege, OAuth/OIDC/JWT, and secrets management.• PII handling, encryption in transit/at rest, audit logging, OWASP awareness, dependency scanning, and vulnerability remediation.• Observability across logs, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerts, incident diagnosis, and production readiness and operational handoff.• Comfortable operating in regulated workflows where auditability, traceability, quality, and data accuracy matter.PREFERRED EXPERIENCEGraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes or ECS, event-driven architecture, workflow engines, reporting, observability platforms, and regulated-industry delivery.Insurance, annuity, enrollment, policy administration, advisor workflows, or policy servicing platforms.Prior direct client delivery experience with U.S.-based stakeholders and meaningful Eastern Time overlap.
