Spacecraft RF Engineer (Mid)
Overview
In this role you will design and validate RF-enabled spacecraft communications for Apex’s satellite buses, shaping system-level architecture and ensuring performance across programs. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to translate payload and mission needs into robust communication systems. You’ll push design boundaries through simulations, verification, and tight collaboration with customers and suppliers. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position in a fast-growing aerospace environment.

ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop RF, digital, and optical satellite communications systems and spacecraft architecturesDefine and verify space communication system requirements and interfacesDrive requirements for subcomponents and lead supplier down selectionPerform link budgeting, distortion, capacity, reliability, and performance analysesDevelop analysis tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platformsDevelop and verify system algorithms to meet functional and performance requirementsPerform hardware procurement, integration, design reviews, and verificationCollaborate with payload customers to accommodate payload requirementsWork with other engineers to meet overall system requirements
Key requirements3-6 years of spacecraft RF and Telemetry communications experienceExperience across multiple spacecraft programsB.S. degree in Electrical Engineering; M.S. preferredExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with multiple audiencesExtensive experience in spacecraft design, launch, and operation across development lifecycleExperience in integrated software/hardware verification and testinginterpersonal communicationcross-functional collaborationproblem-solving mindsetRF engineering for spacecraftTelemetry and communications systemslink budgeting and system analyses
