Located at the forefront of industrial innovation, VIE provides transformative solutions to maximize efficiency and minimize costs for the power grid's essential assets.Role DescriptionWe are looking for a versatile, security-minded Infrastructure Engineer to own our production AWS environment and automated pipelines. In this role, you won't just be building infrastructure—you will be hardening it. As our infrastructure and security gatekeeper, you will design automated deployments, implement robust monitoring to replace a traditional NOC, and ensure our software services meet strict security compliance standards.Key ResponsibilitiesAWS Production Management: Own, scale, and maintain our production AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.Automation & Observability: Build and automate deployment pipelines. Working with other SW engineers, set up comprehensive logging, metrics, and visualization dashboards (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or AWS CloudWatch) to ensure system health without needing a 24/7 NOC team.Cloud Security & Threat Monitoring: Configure and manage cloud-native security tools, specifically AWS WAF, AWS Shield, and GuardDuty. Design and implement custom automated monitoring software to detect and alert on security breaches.Application Security (AppSec): Review software service architecture and code for vulnerabilities. Run automated and manual security compliance testing (SAST/DAST) on our software services prior to deployment.Required Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field (advanced qualifications are a plus).Experience: 4+ years of experience managing production infrastructure in AWS.The "Sec" in DevSecOps: Strong software engineering or application security background. You should be able to read code (Python, Java), understand application vulnerabilities, and run security compliance checks.Security Toolkit: Hands-on experience configuring network-level defenses (VPCs, Security Groups, WAF) and identity management (IAM).Startup Mindset: Comfortable wearing multiple hats, working autonomously, and building systems from scratch.Nice to HaveExperience preparing a startup infrastructure for compliance audits (e.g., SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, or HIPAA).AWS Certifications (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Security Specialty).
