LTL Router (Mon - Fri 3pm-1am)

Router Position On Time Trucking, Inc. is seeking a highly organized and motivated Router to join our operations team. This critical role focuses on planning and optimizing LTL delivery and pickup routes across the five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island) and Long Island (including Montauk). The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of regional traffic patterns, road restrictions, and time-sensitive deliveries. Your ability to build cost-effective, realistic, and efficient daily routes will directly contribute to our service reliability and customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:Strategically plan and route daily LTL deliveries and pickups across NYC and Long Island, ensuring optimal timing, cost, and efficiency.Manage multiple driver schedules while adhering to customer time windows and delivery requirements.Anticipate traffic, delays, weather, or last-minute changes. Work closely with dispatchers, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth load-outs and timely communication.Leverage local knowledge of NYC's five boroughs and Long Island (including bridge/tunnel constraints, residential and commercial zones).Utilize routing and dispatch systems (TMS, ELDs, GPS software) to create and monitor routes.Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, delivery/pickup times, and any delays or issues.Ensure routing complies with DOT regulations, Hours of Service, and company policies.Analyze route performance data and make continuous improvements to efficiency and cost control.Collaborate with the safety and operations teams to maintain high standards of performance and compliance.Contribute to strategic planning for peak periods, holidays, and seasonal demand shifts.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications & Skills:High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in logistics or transportation is a plus.Prior experience in routing or dispatch in an LTL or regional transportation environment strongly preferred.Exceptional knowledge of NYC boroughs and Long Island geography, roadways, traffic patterns, and local restrictions.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with TMS or routing software highly desired.Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.Clear and confident communication skillsboth written and verbal.High attention to detail with a sense of urgency and accountability.Customer-focused mindset with ability to handle high-pressure situations.Flexibility to adjust to dynamic operational needs and schedule changes.Understanding of DOT regulations and basic logistics concepts.Knowledge of LEAN or 6S principles is a plus.Willingness to work a flexible schedule, if required.OTT Qualities: Adherence to all OTT Safety, Quality, ISO and HR policies and standards
