This role requires an in-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL (or similar DBMS) in a Linux environment and SQL and database programming skills. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp domain knowledge and requirements.Location: This is a fully remote position.Salary: $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 per yearJob DutiesJob Duties: Migration project to move data from legacy ISAM files to the PostgreSQL database cluster Participate in all aspects of migration and post-migrationData modeling and creation of database schema designCreation of CRUD-related functions to process data setsPostgreSQL database infrastructure designPerformance tuning of database post migrationJob Qualifications SQL proficiency and building DDL and DML objectsExperience with PostgreSQL and its specific features, i.e. - PL/pgSQL. Experience with other RDBMS platforms is a plus.Understand SQL queries, data manipulation, and database design.Creating CRUD routines for database applications Database schema designProficiency in designing relational database schemas. Create efficient and normalized database schemas.Understanding relationships (such as one-to-many, many-to-many) and indexing strategies Performance tuningOptimize query performance by analyzing execution plans, indexing, and query optimization techniques Database administrationKnow how to manage PostgreSQL instances, handle backups, and perform routine maintenance tasks, specifically with PostgreSQLBackup and recovery. Proficiency in setting up and managing database backup and recovery processes SecurityUnderstand authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms to secure the Database. Familiarity with multitenancy a plus. Nice-to-have skills includeFamiliarity with Git or other version control systems for managing database code.Familiarity with C++ is a bonus Problem-solving skillsDebugging, troubleshooting, and resolving issues efficiently.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database issues. Data analysisAbility to perform data analysis and generate insights from complex data sets CommunicationExcellent verbal and written skillsAbility to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders CollaborationExperience in working with cross-functional teamsAbility to collaborate effectively with developers, analysts, and business users At least 1-2 years developing with PostgreSQL and Linux, with an emphasis on SQL, PL/pgSQL, and other scripting languages.
