Job Title: Lead Database Architect / Senior DBALocation: Okemos, MIDuration: 6+ months contractPay Rate: $65/hour on W2 or $75/hour on C2CNOTE - Need only locals. Also, client will not sponsor or transfer for this position.Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Lead Database Architect / Senior DBA to design, optimize, and guide enterprise-wide database solutions. This role will be responsible for driving database strategy, ensuring high performance and availability, and mentoring technical teams while supporting a modern, multi-database environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and recommend scalable, high-performance database architecturesEvaluate and implement solutions to ensure high availability, reliability, and flexibilityDevelop and maintain database best practices, standards, and documentationProvide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholdersMonitor and troubleshoot database performance issues across environmentsBuild and maintain automated processes for database maintenanceEvaluate emerging technologies and define future database roadmap (buy vs. build)Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, infrastructure, business)Manage relationships with database vendors and service providersMentor DBA team members and technical leadsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years of Database Administration experienceHands-on experience with at least 3 of the following:OracleMicrosoft SQL ServerPostgreSQLMySQL / MariaDBSnowflakeMongoDBStrong experience in:Database performance tuning and optimizationHigh Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutionsBackup and recovery strategiesAutomation of database maintenance tasksExperience working in Windows Server and/or Unix/Linux environmentsExposure to Cloud database technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and toolsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsPreferred SkillsExperience in database architecture and solution designPrior experience in a lead or mentoring roleExposure to enterprise-scale, multi-database environmentsStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsGTech is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating a diverse environment.
