Financial/Actuarial Consultant

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:Project client claim data to develop budgets, calculate client rates, benefit costs, and IBNR reservesReview experience reporting for accuracyCollaborate with consultants and account teams to prepare and deliver client financial presentationsAssess complex client risk, understanding the strategic implications of the competitive carrier/product marketplace, and make sound underwriting-based assumptionsManage and oversight of underwriting support teamRenew and market carriers for assigned book of businessAnalyze / negotiate annual renewals and proposals from carriers for accuracy and financial reasonablenessAnalyze client demographics and other data to determine risk and appropriate carrier product solutionsAssist with product/service quality improvement initiatives as neededAssists service team in educating clients regarding utilization, carrier reports, and third party vendor applications used to view claims and financial dataEducates service team regarding experience reporting, utilization, carrier reports, self-funding options, etc. KEY COMPETENCIES:Advanced knowledge of coverages and services regarding employee benefitsAdvanced knowledge of navigating the Internet as well as various Microsoft Office programs to include Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelStrong attention to detail and time management abilitiesStrong ability to multi-task and assign prioritiesAbility to work effectively and efficiently both with and without direct supervisionAbility to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment as well as independentlyGood interpersonal communication skills EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree requiredMinimum of seven years’ experience performing financial analysis at a benefits consulting or brokerage firm, or comparable experience with an insurance carrier, or TPAMust have advanced working knowledge of a variety of Microsoft Office computer software applications to include Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and ExcelMust be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demandsMust have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The position continually requires teamwork, responsiveness, demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.Must be comfortable presenting analysis directly to clients CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Life and Health LicenseValid Driver License Salary and BenefitsThe national average annual salary for this role is $100,000 – 120,000 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits.
