Patient Account Specialist

PMC Medical Group is seeking a dynamic individual to join our billing department. This is a remote role but will only consider applicants from New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. Review and analyze the patient account activity, review and address patient balances, obtain referrals, verify insurance eligibility and address any coordination of benefits issues with the patient. Review the explanation of benefits to verify that payments and adjustments have been posted timely and accurately. Essential Functions: Obtain insurance referrals and authorizations Verify current coverage and insurance benefits Contact patients for payment and review of balances Assist patients with insurance, billing, coordination of benefits and balance concerns Check and review provider daily patient schedule Communicate scheduling issues and insurance problems to the front office Ability to follow Company and legal HIPAA guidelines Assist in quality improvement of department Participate in regularly scheduled department meetings Actively participate in safety of department Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data Adhere to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines Work collaboratively with members of billing department Maintain a professional appearance when in the office Maintain a courteous, considerate and respectful demeanor with patients and co-workers Adhere to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines Maintain consistent attendance, reliability and punctuality Accept constructive criticism and attempt to use it to improve personal practice Make appropriate arrangements for absences Benefits: Health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and retirement savings. Education: High School diploma or equivalent Experience: 2-5 years in all areas of insurance verification and COB resolution
