Project: “Support to the Secretariat of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy”Scope of the service contract “Support to the Secretariat of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy” is to strengthen the impact and the coherence of the Global Covenant of Mayors initiative, by providing support mainly to four areas of activities:Global-regional coherence (Task 1)Communication (Task 2)Data management (Task 3)On-demand support (Task 4)Expert profile: Senior Non-Key Expert - Solid Waste and Circular Economy Expert The following expertise, with related qualifications and skills, is required for the Solid Waste & Circular Economy SNKE position:Qualifications And SkillsUniversity degree at a master's level in a discipline relevant to the subject of the project: waste management, circular economy, engineering (civil, chemical, environmental etc.), chemistry or a relevant discipline related to wastes. Or alternatively 5 years of full-time proven relevant experience additional to the requested minimum of 5 years full-time proven post-graduate relevant experience to this assignment;Fluency in English, excellent drafting skills;Basic understanding of the full project cycle development;Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver outputs within specified time framesDemonstrates detail orientation, proactive attention to outcomes and expectations, and ability to understand and effectively use information and dataWilling to travel during the project’s implementation when required;Ability to work in a team and as an individual;Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills;Inter-cultural sensitivity;Full Computer Literacy;Good knowledge of internet and web communication systems and tools. General Professional ExperienceMinimum of 7 years’ working experience in solid waste management and circular economy related thematic areas at a local, regional or national level.Minimum of 7 years’ working experience in international cooperation development projects, in particular solid waste management and circular economy, and/ or urban development and energy sectors.Specific Professional ExperiencePrevious working experience on collaboration with cities for the development of actions addressing solid waste management and circular economy.Previous capacity building experience on solid waste management and circular economy issues.Civil servants and other staff currently employed by public administrations of the beneficiary countries are not eligible to apply as experts. Experts must be independent and free from conflicts of interest in the responsibilities defined by the Terms of Reference.Timing and duration of the assignmentThe indicative period of mobilisation is from now to September 2025, for a total amount of 100 working days.Only short-listed candidates will be contacted!
