Salary: $61,351.47 - $86,622.54 AnnuallyLocation : Crystal Lake, ILJob Type: Staff - Full-TimeJob Number: 202500221Division: Academic AffairsDepartment: Center for Teaching & LearningOpening Date: 12/19/2025FLSA: ExemptBargaining Unit: STATarget Hire Rate: $64,963.74 - $72,181.93Pay Grade: S9Workweek40 Hours | Flexible schedule to meet department needs, which may include evenings and weekendsPosition SummaryThe Coordinator of Instructional Technology supports the strategic implementation and meaningful adoption of academic technology tools, the learning management system (LMS), and digital accessibility practices to foster equitable and active teaching and learning across multiple modalities (classroom, hybrid, and online) and support the achievement of institutional goals. Responsibilities include collaborating with faculty on the development and use of instructional technology to support effective teaching practices and high-quality educational experiences across the college. In addition, this position is responsible for developing and conducting training on instructional practices and design principles that promote quality, innovation, and the integration of technology into the processes of teaching and learning.Essential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesProvide one-on-one assistance to full-time and adjunct faculty on issues related to instructional technologies as listed in the CTL resource page, including planning and facilitating the Open Lab.Research, learn and share information about best practices for applying LMS and academic technology in teaching and learning, new academic technology programs and strategiesDesign, develop, and deliver instructional technology workshops. Coordinate the logistics of training, including, but not limited to, scheduling the event, location, equipment, marketing, and registering participantsRespond to questions, solve problems and provide training on new and existing software programs and academic technology issuesConduct ongoing research and program/software evaluation to recommend new instructional technologies for MCC faculty, and work on implementation if new technology is approvedOversee the administration and maintenance of the LMS and other platforms supported by the CTL as listed on the CTL resource pageManage the Center for Teaching and Learning website, including developing, updating, and maintaining appropriate resources (training manuals, tutorials, videos)Assist with planning and implementation of Faculty Development Days and CTL eventsSeek grant funding opportunities to promote and deliver available technologiesWork collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilitiesAssume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisorRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Computer Science or teaching a related discipline from a regionally accredited institutionFive years of teaching or training experienceStrong understanding of pedagogy/learning theories (including active and inclusive learning theories), assessment, instructional design models, approaches to hybrid and online learning and instructional technology with demonstrated knowledge of developing learning materials using a Universal Design for Learning framework.Expertise in digital accessibility including ADA standards and WCAG guidelines and demonstrated ability to design and train others on digitally accessible materials.Expertise in learning management systems (preferably Canvas), including management, maintenance and evaluation; tool integration (multi-media, academic technology and collaboration tools); and emerging educational technologies.Expertise in academic technology software and applications, such as plagiarism detection tools, student response (polling) systems, video and lecture capture and virtual meetings.Desired Qualifications:Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related fieldTeaching experience in a higher education settingProficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications to create digital content, including graphics, illustrations and video.Skills and Specifications:Ability to learn new technologies quickly, train others and evaluate their use and effectiveness in learning environments.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
