Senior Accountant

Reports to: Controller Direct Reports: N/AAccountabilityThis position will be responsible for handling or overseeing all functions related to homebuilding and development accounting. This position will also oversee, manage, and review all functions of the Staff Accountant, Senior AP Specialist, and Sales & Closing Coordinator roles. Key Results Areas Month-end Close ProcessCombined entitiesWork with Staff Account to complete monthly journal entries Review Financial Statements and Balance Sheet ReconciliationsPrepare Profitability and OH reportingAnalyze variances, research questions from Controller and CFONon-combined entitiesComplete monthly close process for non-combined entitiesPrepare Balance Sheet ReconciliationsCash Management/TreasuryManage daily cash balancesPrepare bi-weekly cash forecastTransfer cash and set up ACH/wires as neededOversee Staff Accountant on other treasury dutiesHome ClosingsAttend weekly backlog meetingOversee home closing processCoordinate with Sales & Closing Coordinator and Staff Accountant on scheduling, planning, verification of closing, and confirmation of cash proceeds receivedConstruction LoansAttend biweekly starts meetingManage construction loan closing process; support Staff Accountant in scheduling and prioritizingWork with Controller to confirm lot purchase prices from land development entities to homebuilding entitiesReview and approve bank budgets per lotReview and approve closing instructions from lenders and closing statements from closing attorneysCoordinate with Staff Accountant to confirm draws have been processedHOAProcess wires for HOA cash fundingLand Development DrawsPrepare monthly draws to submit to equity partners and lendersConfirm draw funding and process related paymentsWork with Staff Accountant and Senior AP Specialist to complete 1099 (annual) tax reportingPrepare and file personal property tax returnsAnnual financial auditPrepare PBCs for audit teamAssist auditors with questions or follow upIT/SystemsSet up new projects, entitiesSet up new GL accounts/maintenance of GL interfaceBANK/EFT/EFTM SETUP Other duties as assignedREQUIRED EDUCATION: (degree, licenses, certifications, etc.)Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related fieldREQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (work related, tools/equipment, software, etc.):Ability to multi-task and manage time wellExperience leading, managing, and developing a teamHighly Adaptable to fast paced working environment with the ability to prioritize tasks as they ariseAdobe and Microsoft Office proficiency Related Functional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experienceProven email and phone communication skillsCustomer-focused and personableSolid organizational and planning skills
