Quality Auditor
OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Quality Auditor at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for functioning in the capacity of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Organization Designation Authorization Unit Member (ODA/UM) and performing conformity inspections and export airworthiness findings in accordance with FAA designated requirements. In addition, you will prepare and perform internal quality system audits, report findings, observations, and issue Audit Reports in support of the Garmin audit programs.Essential FunctionsProvide Export Airworthiness Certificates for eligible products and materials as an FAA ODA/UMProvide conformity inspections on behalf of the FAA as a designeeEnsure our FAA Approved Quality System continues to meet requirements of the FAA Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO) through continuous improvementTeam with Manufacturing, Engineering, Customer Repair, Product Support, and Quality Assurance to identify failures and seek Root Cause Corrective Action to minimize process and product variation and eliminate failure mechanismsPerform quality system and product audits, and document audit activities with audit team members Review audit results, create audit reports, and maintain/ensure audit record integrity in accordance with audit program requirementsMaintain confidentiality of product/process specifications, performance analysis, and any identified discrepancies Use caution and appropriate presence while auditing to provide for: operator safety, product and process integrity, and minimum process interferenceCleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standardsBasic QualificationsMust possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an FAA approved electronics manufacturing environment where knowledge or experience of the following is demonstrated:First Article, in-process, and final assembly inspectionsQuality provisions of special processesManufacturing processesAirworthiness assuranceTesting ProceduresUse of FAA-type design dataConfiguration control methodologyBachelor’s Degree (technical aviation related curriculum preferred) OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated proficiency using Microsoft SuiteDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrates proficiency in developing, implementing, and following formal procedures or work instructionsMust be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervisionMust possess current or recent experience as ODA/UM, DMIR, Designated Engineering Representative (DER) or meet the FAA requirements for sameDemonstrated affiliation with the aviation industry as indicated by education, avocation, or work historyDemonstrated proficient knowledge in reading and interpreting the FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations)Desired QualificationsFAA authorization to issue Air Worthiness Tags (Activity Codes 8 and 20)Previous auditing experience or trainingWorking experience with ISO-9000 (International Quality Standard), QS-9000 (Quality System Requirements), TQM (Total Quality Management), Quality Circles, or other improvement programsGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
