Description We are advancing next-generation nuclear power technology across fusion, fission, and hybrid applications through innovative work in high-energy-density physics, pulsed power, liquid metals, advanced materials, and compact modular systems. The Engineering Technician will support research and development operations through assembly, installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced electrical and mechanical systems. This role is highly hands-on and ideal for candidates who thrive in fast-paced technical environments requiring adaptability, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will support high-voltage systems, electrical and mechanical assemblies, cable installation, preventive maintenance, inventory tracking, and laboratory operations while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards and procedures. ResponsibilitiesAssemble electrical and mechanical systems from engineering drawings, schematics, manufacturing documentation, and verbal instructionsInstall copper and fiber optic wiring/cabling using industry best practicesTest electrical and mechanical components and assemblies per engineering instructionsOperate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-voltage systems and associated equipmentPerform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure continuous operation of laboratory and test systemsDiagnose equipment faults and replace defective components as neededMaintain safe, clean, and organized laboratory and work environmentsInspect inventory levels and coordinate reordering of technical materials and componentsMaintain accurate procedures, maintenance records, and technical documentationSupport engineering teams in rapidly changing R&D environmentsAttend training events, conferences, and professional development activities as requiredPerform additional duties in support of organizational goals and project timelines RequirementsMust-Have Skills & Experience1-3 years of hands-on technical experience related to electrical, mechanical, or engineering support workWorking knowledge of health and safety standards and practicesBasic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform repetitive assembly operationsExperience using hand tools, portable power tools, and bench toolsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprintsStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skillsAbility to adapt quickly in a fast-paced R&D environmentStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to lift 30-50 lbs. daily and maintain a safe working environment Nice-to-Have SkillsExperience with SolidWorks or RevitForklift certification or trainingExperience working in research & development environmentsAssociate degree in Engineering Technology or related technical fieldMilitary technical experience in electrical, electronics, power generation, nuclear, or mechanical systems highly transferable
