Meat Clerk

We are looking for a reliable, service-focused Meat Clerk to join our team at Hen House. As part of the Balls Food Stores family, we offer the stability of a locally owned company with deep community roots.This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with fresh products, staying active, and delivering knowledgeable, guest-focused service in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities & Job DutiesProvide friendly, helpful, and respectful guest service at all times to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat visitsPackage and label meat products accurately in compliance with weight, pricing, and regulatory guidelinesAssist guests with product selection, custom cuts (as applicable), and cooking recommendationsStock, rotate, and face products using FIFO methods to maintain freshness, minimize waste, and ensure an appealing presentationMonitor product dates, storage conditions, and temperature logs to maintain quality and reduce shrinkMaintain clean, organized, and fully stocked service cases and displaysEnsure proper handling, storage, and temperature control of all meat productsFollow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standardsOperate equipment such as scales, wrappers, scanners, and basic cutting tools safely and accuratelyDevelop and maintain knowledge of meat products, pricing, and promotions to better assist guests and drive salesMonitor inventory levels and communicate low, excess, or damaged items to department leadership to support product availabilityMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in both sales floor and backroom areasCommunicate clearly and respectfully with teammates, leadership, and vendors to support efficient operationsCollaborate across departments to support overall store performance and guest satisfactionAdhere to all company policies and procedures, including attendance, conduct, and dress code standardsRemain productive during slower periods by cleaning, organizing, restocking, or supporting other departmentsOther job duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsRequired: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experienceRequired: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysPreferred: Experience in grocery, retail, food service, or meat/seafood departmentsPreferred: Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standardsPreferred: Experience with meat cutting, knife handling, or meat/seafood preparationPreferred: Ability to provide recommendations on cuts, preparation, and cooking methodsJob Posted by ApplicantPro
