Tax Preparation Trainee & Office Support-1 year+ tax office experience
Job Description
Small CPA office is looking to add a trainee tax preparer and client-facing tax office assistant. This is at the office, Monday-Friday, in Tarzana. Working hours are: 9am-5:30pm, with some Saturdays, and overtime during peak tax season.
The client will teach the procedures for tax forms and preparation. The position in a first-point-of-contact for clients. You will be part of the small office staff setting up client appointments, preparing paperwork, meeting with clients, maintaining tax files, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed.
This person will train the rest of this year with the expectation to be ready to do tax preparer duties independently in 2027. The firm handles individual taxes with a few business accounts. You will be scheduling appointments, doing reminder outreach, assisting those picking up completed forms, verifying and saving documents, electronically submitting forms, etc.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Ablility to learn quickly and retain information. Mathematically inclined, detail-oriented, and self-starter. Work with tax and custom software.
Company is seeking someone with prior experience working in a small tax office support role for at least 1 year, including the busytax season, and a desire to learn tax preparation. Small tax office experience is necessary.
Stable work history is needed. $27/hr-28/hr. Temporary-to-hire opportunity.
