As a growing startup, we provide unique opportunities to work alongside industry experts, researchers, and technology leaders while helping build products that impact millions of people.Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated Autonomous Vehicle Operations Specialist / Safety Driver to support testing, validation, and deployment of autonomous vehicle technologies. This role combines vehicle operations, safety monitoring, data collection, and collaboration with engineering teams to improve the performance and safety of our autonomous systems.The ideal candidate is passionate about emerging technologies, enjoys solving problems in dynamic environments, and is excited to grow with a fast-moving startup.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and monitor autonomous vehicles during testing and validation activities.Serve as the safety driver and maintain readiness to take control when required.Collect, document, and organize vehicle performance data and testing results.Provide detailed feedback to engineering teams regarding vehicle behavior, edge cases, and system performance.Conduct pre-drive and post-drive vehicle inspections.Support software validation and testing of new autonomy features.Monitor vehicle health and safety systems using company tools.Assist with route preparation, logistics, and operational planning.Maintain accurate records of test activities, incidents, and operational metrics.Interact professionally with customers, partners, and members of the public as a representative of General Autonomy.Follow all safety procedures and company protocols.Support additional field operations and testing activities as assigned.QualificationsRequiredValid U.S. Driver's License with a clean driving record.Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.Comfortable operating vehicles for extended periods.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Basic proficiency with computers and productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, etc.).Ability to learn new technologies and software systems quickly.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and field-testing schedules.PreferredExperience in automotive testing, fleet operations, robotics, or autonomous systems.Experience collecting and documenting technical data.Background in engineering, technology, transportation, or logistics.Previous startup experience.Interest in AI, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or safety-critical systems.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit and drive for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently during testing activities.Why Join General Autonomy?While we are an early-stage startup and do not currently offer traditional corporate benefits, we offer something equally valuable:Direct exposure to cutting-edge autonomous vehicle and AI technologies.Opportunity to work closely with company founders, researchers, and industry experts.Hands-on experience in one of the fastest-growing technology sectors.Significant career growth opportunities as the company expands.Opportunity to contribute to publications, patents, and innovative product development.A culture that values creativity, ownership, and individual contributions.Fast-track advancement opportunities for high performers.The chance to help build a company from the ground up and make a visible impact every day.At General Autonomy, we believe in investing in people.
