Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Macon, GA, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Tele experience and telemetry monitoring skills. Details Float pool position covering all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the hospital Large academic teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center (637 licensed beds) Med/Surg units range from 20-36 beds per unit Patient population includes acute and chronic disease with common co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances), cardiac patients (post-cath, CHF, A-fib), and post-surgical patients (general, ortho, trauma) Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6 RN; CNA support up to 1:14 Telemetry skills required: cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation, post-cath care, TR band management, and groin site management (no sheath pulls) Drip management required: insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine (titration for HR, not BP) Specialized skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, and discharge planning EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitors: Philips 12-hour day shifts (7A-7P) or night shifts (7P-7A), 36 hours per week Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle No on-call or call-back requirements Floating required to all Med/Surg Telemetry units as needed Requirements Active GA or Compact RN license currently in hand BLS certification required; ACLS preferred Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Strong telemetry skills including cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation Proficiency with Epic EMR required Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position Additional Information Responsibilities include care coordination with the interdisciplinary team, patient education, discharge planning, and strong assessment and time management Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretary (on unit 7A-11P), charge nurse, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, and central telemetry monitoring technicians Respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage available 24/7 Orientation consists of 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation; EKG competency exam required during onboarding Holiday coverage required: one shift each of Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1 RTO requests must be submitted through and approved by the unit manager RN scrub color: Navy Local candidates are accepted; no radius rule applies — same rate for local travelers in GA First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-684325.
