About the Role
We're looking for a Materials Designer to help shape the materials vision for performance-driven products. This role will focus on developing innovative, manufacturable material solutions that align with creative direction and product goals.
You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams to bring concepts to life-from early ideation through to production-while balancing performance, cost, and aesthetic considerations.
What You'll Do
Develop and deliver materials concepts and strategies aligned to seasonal or project-based creative direction
Design and specify textiles, synthetics, and performance materials for product applications
Translate insights and trends into original, forward-thinking material solutions
Partner with design, development, and external teams to bring concepts from idea to production
Evaluate materials for performance, durability, cost, and manufacturability
Communicate design intent and decisions clearly to cross-functional stakeholders
Contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced creative environment with a strong point of viewWhat We're Looking For~5-7 years of experience in materials design, product design, or a related field
Background in performance materials (e.g., textiles, synthetics, polymers, coatings, or composites)
Experience designing for physical products (footwear, apparel, automotive, consumer products, or similar)
Strong understanding of how materials behave in manufacturing environments
Ability to make and articulate clear, confident design decisions
Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or similar)
Strong communication and collaboration skillsNice to HaveExperience with footwear or wearable product design
Familiarity with 3D design or visualization tools
Exposure to working with global manufacturing partners
Interest in or experience with sustainable materialsPortfolio Requirement
Candidates must provide a portfolio that demonstrates:
