Pain Management Physician (MD/DO)Position SummaryThe Pain Management Physician provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain. This role emphasizes multidisciplinary, evidence-based pain management strategies, including interventional procedures, medication management, and coordination of care to improve patient function and quality of life.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditionsDiagnose and treat musculoskeletal, neuropathic, spine-related, and cancer-related pain syndromesDevelop individualized, multimodal pain management plansPerform interventional pain procedures consistent with training and privileges (e.g., injections, nerve blocks, ablations, neuromodulation as applicable)Manage pharmacologic pain therapies in accordance with clinical guidelines and regulatory requirementsCoordinate care with primary care providers, surgeons, physical therapy, behavioral health, and other specialistsEducate patients regarding pain conditions, treatment options, and functional goalsMonitor treatment effectiveness and adjust care plans as neededMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiativesSupervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers and clinical staff as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited residency program (e.g., Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, Psychiatry, or related specialty)Completion of an accredited Pain Medicine fellowshipBoard-eligible or board-certified in Pain MedicineAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and CompetenciesExpertise in interventional and non-interventional pain managementStrong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skillsKnowledge of safe opioid prescribing and regulatory complianceExcellent communication and patient counseling abilitiesAbility to manage complex, chronic pain conditionsCommitment to evidence-based, patient-centered careWork EnvironmentOutpatient pain management clinics, procedure suites, and ambulatory surgery centersLimited inpatient consultation responsibilities depending on practice modelPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and sit for extended periods during clinic and proceduresManual dexterity for interventional techniquesVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and procedural care
