Project Financial Analyst
We have an immediate opening for a Project Financial Analyst. The Project Financial Analyst supports project teams by serving as a key liaison between contracts, the proposal team, accounting, and leadership.
This hybrid position includes working from our Englewood, CO office 2–3 days per week.
What you will do
This role focuses on understanding project structures, contractual frameworks, and internal processes to ensure projects are set up and managed in alignment with contractual and financial expectations. The Project Financial Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining consistency, data quality, accuracy, and collaboration across teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage project creation requests across different sales cycle stages in the Professional Services Automation (PSA) system. This includes reviewing Statements of Work (SOW),Task Orders, Contracts, Basis of Estimate (BOE) and schedules to identify contract information for project set-up such as:
Contract type and total revenue
T&M rate tables and fixed fee billing terms
Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and schedule to determine time charging tasks, resource bookings, utilization projections, and resource requests
Fixed fee milestones, revenue values, and estimated completion dates
Verify project revenue and cost forecasts including labor, purchases and travel expenses throughout the course of a project, based on input from project managers
Assist Project Managers with budget set up in compliance with Finance department requirements, and with identifying external risks and opportunities.
Initiate invoicing process in collaboration with the accounting team
Facilitate month-end project financial review of each project including:
Actuals versus budget and forecast analysis
Identification of variances and potential risks/opportunities
Quarterly, monthly and annual trend analysis and comparisons
Automate and improve current processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
Attend project related meetings with the leadership and prepare relevant materials as needed
Participate in cross-training opportunities with Resource Management, Proposal, PMO teams.
What we look for from you
Familiarity of theoretical and practical aspects of project management techniques and tools
Familiarity with software/systems development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts preferred for IT-focused projects
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Proven data analysis and reconciliation experience
Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
Experience with MS Project and PSA systems, preferred
Skills and Requirements
Financial Analysis: Analyzes project budgets, forecasts, and cost data to support decision making; identifies variances and trends; prepares recommendations for project managers and finance leadership
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or economics; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Utility experience preferred.
Technical Proficiency
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software.
Knowledge and familiarity with MS Project Software is preferred.
Compensation Range: $62,000-$68,000/annually.
The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
