Work Schedule: 1.0 FTE Continuing Position - 180-day base contract per year (Monday - Friday)Reports To: Executive Director of Special EducationSalary: Per Marysville Education Association Negotiated Salary ScheduleBase & TRI Salary Schedule at http://www.msd25.org/employee-groupsAccount Code: 2100-26-2110-0000-2000-0000-0Position Summary:This position is a certified speech language specialist who provides evaluative, habilitative therapy, and consultative services for students disabled by disorders of language, speech, or hearing.Minimum Qualifications:Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) with School Speech Language Pathologist endorsementValid Washington State Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) licenseExcellent oral and written communication skillsSuccessful experience at appropriate grade level preferredExperience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferredSuccessful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint ClearanceProof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control ActCompletion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire dateDesired Skills:Ability to identify students with speech/language disordersAbility to communicate and assist school personnel, public agencies, and parents relative to speech/language disorderKnowledge of implementing speech/language services in keeping with district and state guidelinesKnowledge of an ability in processing hearing screening programs as prescribed by state law and consistent with district policyKnowledge of student evaluation processes and proceduresKnowledge of and ability to modify the behaviors which characterize the speech/language and/or hearing disorderEssential Job Functions:This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:Design yearly program for implementing the speech/language/hearing services within the assigned buildings in keeping with district, state, and federal guidelinesProcess hearing screening programs as prescribed by state law and district policyIdentify students with speech/language disordersEvaluate students with speech/language disorders to determine cause, nature, prognosis, habilitation goals, and recommend remediationConduct regularly scheduled therapeutic procedures which will modify the behaviors characterizing the speech/language and/or hearing disorderProvide information and assistance to teachers and other appropriate staff and nonpublic school agencies through such activities as consultation and in-service educationConsult with parents relative to student's speech/language/hearing disorderParticipate in multi-disciplinary staffing procedures which involve language disabled studentsMaintain appropriate records and data systemParticipate in activities which ensure professional growthMaintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hoursProfessionally interact with students, staff, and publicEstablish and maintain professional contacts with studentsComply with all district policies and proceduresComply with the Code of Professional ConductPerform related duties as assignedWork Environment:Work is typically performed in and around a student learning environment; may be exposed to childhood diseases; may be required to balance and crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel; may be required to stand for prolonged periods; may be exposed to high noise levels; and may experience a multitude of demands and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.EvaluationThis position shall be evaluated periodically by the Executive Director of Special Education pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria.
